STRESS, FATIGUE, AND SLEEP ISSUES.
Stress, fatigue, and sleep issues are common among many people, and, I have found that these three elements are closely related and often affect each other in intricate ways. Naturopathic medicine emphasizes the patient’s whole person, which means addressing the underlying causes of health problems rather than just treating the symptoms. Therefore, managing stress, energy and sleep is a foundational aspect of my treatment approach for many of my patients
Read MoreHere are some basics on how I approach these health challenges:
- Stress Management: Stress is a major contributor to many health problems, including fatigue and insomnia. Dietary modifications may be necessary as blood sugar balance, sufficient protein intake and digestive challenges can all play a role in mood and contribute to feelings of stress. We will also discuss and plan some personal self- care and relaxation practices like deep breathing, yoga, or meditation. In addition, I may recommend a personalized herb and or supplement protocol that can help support you, while making sure that they are safe and will not have any negative interactions if you are already taking any pharmaceuticals.
- Fatigue: Fatigue is another common ailment many people experience that can be a result from a variety of factors. In addressing fatigue, I begin by conducting a thorough medical history to rule out more serious health conditions such as thyroid, adrenal or immune disorders. I will ensure that any macro or micronutrient deficiencies are not contributing to your symptoms or make a plan to address them.
- Sleep: Sleep is essential. Many factors such as stress, anxiety, hormonal imbalance, and even certain medications can hinder a persons ability to rest and recharge. My goal is to identify the root cause of sleep disturbances, before creating a personalized plan, which could include things such as modifying your sleep hygiene practices to specific supplements and maybe a prescribed massage or acupuncture to help calm your sympathetic nervous system to allow for improved sleep quality.
